7 tips on how to eat healthy at work

Eating at work is like eating on the move. Stressful and long hours at work usually get rewarded by indulging in an on-the spot order, not thinking of how it will affect your weight.
Here are 7 tips on how you can refrain from indulging on the wrong foods, and satiate your hunger at the work-place.

1.   Bring Home-Food:
Bringing a hand-packed lunch from home is always a better idea, than ordering something at work. This way, you know what you are eating prior to your lunch time and always have the choice to put in healthy and low fat food in your lunch box. Carrying along small munchies that are healthy like dried fruit, fruits, and granola bars are some snacks you can afford to eat in between, without the fear that you’re putting on too much weight. Carry an insulated lunch box, so that you can reheat the contents in the office microwave or keep it stored in the refrigerator if needed.

2.   Walk when you can:
Eating your food right at the desk, without changing your seat is a bad idea. Try to change your lunch place to one that is not near your desk. Walk to the office cooler for water, to the printer when needed. Do not sit continuously in one place; get up and walk around if need be, but that little bit of exercise- at work plays a big role over remaining stationary in one place.

3.   Increase your water-intake:
Try and drink as much of water as you can. This will not only fill your stomach, but also reduce the amount of hunger you may have initially felt.
Of course there are tea/coffee breaks which should play a role in filling your tummy up.

4.   Chew Slower:
When eating at work, do no be in a hurry. Chew your food slowly, taking breaks in between spoonfuls. Drink water in between to satiate the hunger. This slow movement while chewing the food will play a huge role in filling your stomach up, and preventing any form of over-eating.

5.   Use a hand sanitizer:
Using a hand sanitizer is the best way to keep those germs from the table away from you. The area around your desk may contain some dust, or the papers picked up dust elsewhere. Applying hand sanitizer before and after lunch is a good way to stay healthy and avoid any form of infections at work.

6.   Sit with a colleague and share your lunch:
When eating your lunch, it is always a good idea to sit with a colleague from work.
This will give you a mental break from your work, and also a time to communicate with another person regarding their work. Exchanging ideas, experiences at work place is a stress releaser. Also there are fewer chances of over eating when with a friend.
Sharing your lunch is a great idea to keep your food-intake in control and also have some fun interaction at work!

7.   Stay Focused!
Remember what your sole purpose is at office: TO WORK!
Do not get distracted and loose direction by thinking about when the next break will be, because work is the time when you have to give it your 100% or nothing. You can’t afford to make mistakes at work, and you need to be “all ears, eyes, attention at work.”  Keep a fixed tea/coffee time in the morning’s and evening’s when you will have your tea/coffee, and a fixed timing for your lunch. This way, your body will adjust itself to the change and automatically get systematized to hunger at these times.
